Solar greenhouse helps people grow energy for the home

The Energy Grow Solar PV greenhouse is a new innovation that produces clean energy for the home as well as providing a stunning greenhouse. It was developed in response to customers who wanted solar panels but didn’t want or couldn’t put them on their roof.

With its unique solar cell arrangement, the Energy Grow Solar PV Greenhouse can produce around 50 per cent of the average household’s electrical needs (1,600KWh2 of energy per year). The frame is made from durable and sustainable western Red Cedar wood and is glazed to maximise the growing potential of plants. The greenhouse even has its own power socket so it can be kept heated during the winter at no cost.

The Energy Grow Solar PV greenhouse, which is being launched at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, is the first of its type on the market and produces energy for the home as well as providing a stunning greenhouse. It’s the perfect combination for people who want to be eco, take advantage of the Feed-In Tariff and grow their own plants and vegetables.

Managing Director of New Horizons Solar Russell King, who developed the product, said: “We are exhibiting at RHS Hampton because it is the perfect launch pad and showcase for the Energy Grow Solar PV Greenhouse. RHS Hampton is important because we believe this new product is ideal for gardeners and growers and the type of eco-conscious people who will be at the event.”

Russell came up with the idea for the Energy Grow Solar PV Greenhouse when he was contacted by a Sussex couple living in a listed building who couldn’t install solar panels on their roof. They are keen gardeners, so the combination of an attractive greenhouse that also generates electricity was the perfect solution.

There is a 25-year warranty and the system qualifies for the Government’s Feed-In Tariff (FiT) which pays out an average of £900 per year. Energy Grow Solar PV Greenhouses come is three sizes.

The company, which has its headquarters in East Sussex, is a member of the REAL Assurance Scheme (Renewable Energy Assurance Ltd), the Solar Trade Association and The Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA). It is also a MSC accredited installer for Solar PV systems.

Managing Director Russell King has worked in the solar industry almost from its inception. In fact, his innovations in the field while heading up research and development teams, prior to launching New Horizons Solar, have assisted in the evolution of the sector. Over the years he and his team have developed numerous innovations, gaining patents for several, to make advances across various industries. The latest of these is the development of the Energy Grow Solar PV Greenhouse. For more information go to http://www.invest-in-solar.co.uk/ or telephone 01825 705050
